Sea Survival

This one day course prepares you to stay alive in an emergency. It shows you how to make best use of a life raft and you will learn some basic survival techniques. There is no pre course assumed level of knowledge or experience.

Yachting is one of the safest leisure sporting activities and 99.9% of yachtsmen will never use their liferaft. However, if you are one of the unlucky few, your chances of survival will be greatly increase if you understand how to use the equipment and how to help yourself. It is a well-proven fact that in the event of an emergency at sea, people with training are more likely to survive.

The RYA one-day Sea Survival course is a genuine lifesaver. Designed for small craft users, the course provides understanding on how to use the safety equipment found on small vessels. Liferafts, the equipment they contain and survival techniques form the central part of the course. Other topics covered include the design of lifejackets, medical aspects of seas survival and rescue techniques. There is a practical session in the pool and students are encouraged to experience first hand the problems of entering and assisting the entrance of others into an inflated and uncooperative liferaft whilst fully kitted out. This course is a must for anyone who wants to go to sea.
